A big thanks to everyone who supported our 24th Annual Reentry Halloween Spooktacular Brunch at the Pond House Cafe. It was our first time hosting the event in person in three years, and it was a great success! The Halloween Brunch raised $29,000, and 100% of the funds will support the much-needed services provided for participants at the Hartford and Waterbury Reentry Welcome Centers.
We want to give a special shoutout to our Haunted Mansion Sponsors, the Pond House Café and Migliara Family Foundation, and our Pumpkin Patch Sponsor, Fusco Property Management. We also thank our Witch’s Cauldron, Ghostly Gravestone and Eerie Lantern sponsors whose support helped make our event possible.
The Brunch had a great turnout, with 138 people attending. Our guests came in fun and creative costumes. Many of them had a great time posing for the 360° Phantom Photo Booth, too.
During the formal program, we were treated to a soulful and heartwarming performance by the Justice Dance Performance Project (JDPP). We also recognized the following individuals for their professional and personal accomplishments in reentry:
- Kay Mello of the United Way of Greater Waterbury, 2023 Community Partner Award, for her exceptional support of the Greater Waterbury Reentry Welcome Center and the people we serve.
- Sharon Cody, former Resettlement Program participant, 2023 Sis. Nancy Audette Outstanding Achievement Award for her personal and academic achievements that embody the spirit of resilience after leaving prison.
- Nancy Audette, the Sisters of Mercy and former CPA staff, Lifetime Achievement Award for her vision in 1992 to develop the reentry model that is the foundation for our Reentry Welcome Centers.
