Known as “Manchester’s Scarf Lady”, Toni Sullivan plans to crochet 500 scarves for Footwear with Care’s upcoming Winter Boot Party. On the Dec. 9 event, 500 homeless individuals will receive this handmade neck warmer with their new boots, socks and foot exams. Sullivan has also collected over 300, $5 gift cards for meals to hand out with the scarves.
“I’ve lost jobs. I’ve been hungry. I’ve been without a roof over my head” said Sullivan on identifying with the people she’s helping. “If people feel that they matter, it might give them that little bit of hope they need,” Sullivan said.
