Prison Arts Annual Show 2024

by | Sep 3, 2024

Save the Date!! Our Prison Arts Program Annual Show 2024 Opening Reception is September 26th from 6 – 8PM at CT State Community College Manchester. The show is free and open to all and runs through Nov. 13.

This is the 44th Annual Show of artwork from Connecticut’s prisons. The Annual Show is open to anyone incarcerated, or formerly incarcerated, in Connecticut. The Annual Show is a diverse, inclusive exhibition, featuring new artwork from accomplished artists working in Prison Arts’ collectives and workshops, as well as from artists exhibiting for the first time, and everyone in between. The show features drawings, paintings, sculptures, and carpentry projects. Beyond traditional arts supplies, many artworks are made using unique materials, including soap, woven paper bags, and food packaging. The Annual Show is a chance to dignify the constructive endeavors undertaken daily in prison, provide families a chance to connect with their loved ones, and create connections between the prison and the outside community. Don’t miss this powerful community event!

Since 1978, the Prison Arts Program has been working to transform Connecticut’s prisons, and the lives of all those living and working inside those prisons, through the arts.

Community Partners in Action has been assisting those affected by the criminal justice system, while advocating and enabling systemic change (institutionally, judicially, and legislatively), since 1875. CPA is nearing their 150th anniversary!
