Under sunny skies and in front of a crowd of nearly 70 guests and CPA staff members, Community Partners in Action (CPA) proudly dedicated its Washington Street campus in honor of the Honorable Maureen Price-Boreland on Friday, May 30. The special ceremony celebrated Judge Price-Boreland’s transformative leadership as CPA’s executive director from 1997 to 2018 and recognized her profound impact on Connecticut’s justice-involved communities.
Surrounded by family, friends, and a strong showing of fellow jurists there to honor their esteemed colleague, Judge Price-Boreland was moved by the outpouring of appreciation. Her family played a special role in helping unveil the new signage, marking the official naming of the campus in her honor.
The four-building complex—home to CPA’s Hartford Alternative in the Community (AIC) program, Transitional Housing, Work Release, REGIONS-Hartford, along with various clinical and administrative offices—stands as a testament to Judge Price-Boreland’s vision and legacy. Her pioneering efforts in securing and designing the campus with an informal, welcoming atmosphere—provides dignity, support, and opportunity to adults and youth alike.
“Maureen’s vision changed the way we think about justice, about healing, and possibility,” said CPA Executive Director Beth Hines. “She led with grace, conviction, and an unwavering belief in people’s ability to change. Naming this campus after her is not only a tribute to her past leadership, but a constant reminder to all of us to lead with purpose and compassion.”
During the ceremony, Noely Sanchez Velez—who served as Judge Price-Boreland’s executive assistant for many years—presented her with a personal gift in recognition of their long and meaningful partnership. The moment added an intimate touch to an already emotional event.
In her remarks, Judge Price-Boreland reflected on her time with CPA, saying, “This organization has always led with passion, integrity, and service. I am so proud of the work we accomplished together—and even more proud that CPA continues to be in good hands with Beth at the helm.”
A Proclamation was presented on behalf of Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam proclaiming that Friday, May 30, 2025, was to be known as the Hon. Maureen Price-Boreland Day in the City of Hartford, and a special certificate of recognition from U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT-3rd) was delivered, further underscoring Judge Price-Boreland’s legacy of service and justice.
The event’s success was made possible thanks to the tremendous efforts of CPA staff, especially the Washington Street teams. From thoughtful decorations to a beautiful reception prepared by the campus kitchen’s chef, every element reflected the care and respect Judge Price-Boreland inspires.
It was an afternoon filled with joy, reflection, and gratitude—honoring a leader whose legacy continues to shape lives and communities across Connecticut.
