Communications Director

Adam H. Brill is responsible for communications at CPA, providing strategic counsel to the executive team, development, and program leads. A true believer in trying to make the world a better place for all, he lives to tell stories about good organizations and people doing great things and has achieved this through a variety of media including film. A veteran in public relations and crisis and reputation management, he has held senior roles at the New York-based government relations firm CDD Strategies, and Harrison Edwards PR & Marketing, where he represented clients in nonprofit, banking, aviation, broadband and healthcare. He has also directed communications at Office of the Connecticut State Treasurer, Jewish National Fund-USA, City of Yonkers, and Aquarion Water Company. He is principal of the PR firm, Brill Media LLC.

Before his career in integrated communications, Adam was a criminal investigator in the Office of the New York State Special Prosecutor for the Investigation of the NYC Criminal Justice System, NYC Probation, and the Kings County District Attorney, working on some of New York City’s most well-known high-profile cases including Howard Beach, Crown Heights, and Bensonhurst, among others.

Adam earned a bachelor’s from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Criminal Justice Administration & Planning, and an MA in Public Relations from Iona University, and has taught communications and public speaking on the undergrad and graduate school levels at Fairfield University and Iona. A member of the National Press Club and its Headliners Team, he also serves as vice president of the Westchester-Fairfield Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and as professional advisor to the Sacred Heart University chapter of PRSSA.

Since 2006, Adam has called Connecticut home and is married to Monica, CFO of Connecticut Mental Health Center in New Haven, CT. A supporter of local causes and animal charities, he and Monica try to spend their free time traveling, kayaking, and cooking with their family and very spoiled rescue dog.
