by | Nov 3, 2025

Community Partners in Action’s Inspiring Hope 150th Anniversary Gala on September 18 at The Society Room of Hartford was a moving celebration of history, hope, and second chances. More than 200 guests — including community leaders, partners, and supporters — came together to honor CPA’s 150 years of service and the people who make our mission possible.

Guests enjoyed a spirited cocktail hour with music by Steve Moran, followed by dinner and an inspiring program emceed by Hon. Luke Bronin. Executive Director Beth Hines and Board Chair Tom O’Brien, Esq. reflected on CPA’s rich legacy and its ongoing work to transform lives through reentry, youth, and arts programs.

The evening featured the world premiere of CPA’s 150th Film, capturing stories of perseverance and purpose, and an introduction to Opening New Doors for Tomorrow’s Youth, a campaign to raise $150,000 to build a new vocational training center at REGIONS-Hartford. The center will help young people reenter their communities with new skills, confidence, and career opportunities.

CPA also honored two extraordinary leaders for their dedication to justice and community:

  • William H. Carbone, MPA, Champion of Justice, recognized for his groundbreaking work in juvenile justice reform and as executive director of the Tow Youth Justice Institute at the University of New Haven.
  • Victoria Steele, Phenomenal Woman, CPA Board Member and Connecticut Hall of Change inductee, celebrated for her advocacy, mentorship, and leadership in behavioral health and women’s reentry.

CPA received proclamations from Governor Ned Lamont, the Connecticut General Assembly, U.S. Representative John Larson, and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, who honored CPA in the Congressional Record.

The evening closed with joyful dancing to Latanya Farrell and her band, a fitting finale to a night celebrating 150 years of second chances and the many people who make them possible.

Our Gala and yearlong events are made possible through the generosity of our Founder (Diamond Roofing Specialists, and The Pond House Cafe at Elizabeth Park), Heritage (Richard P. Garmany Fund), Legacy, Milestone and Tradition Sponsors whose commitment helped bring this historic celebration to life. Their partnership reflects the deep community support behind CPA’s 150-year mission, empowering individuals to rebuild their lives, strengthening families, and creating safer, stronger communities across Connecticut.
