Many of our staff at ADMIN, Manchester AIC, the Washington Street Complex, and Hartford Reentry Welcome Center know Kirk Skinner as both a former participant and now as an employee, responsible for janitorial and custodial duties. Always with a smile on his face, a story to share, and his fondness for the New York Yankees, few know that he has been working at rebuilding his life after years of incarceration with the entrepreneurial aspiration of starting his own business.
As part of that, since last summer, Kirk began studying for his motor vehicle license, taking the necessary written test, classroom course, and driving classes. Along the way he worried about being able to manage and pass the road test after so many years away. Additionally, this winters’ weather caused his road test to be either cancelled or rescheduled, creating further frustration. Well, we are excited to share that Kirk recently received a 99/100 on his road test, a near perfect score, and now in possession of a CT Driver’s License. Way to go, Kirk!
