Spoiler: It involves a lot of hand sanitizer.
If you’ve ever emailed or called CPA’s Human Resources team with a Paycom question, benefits concern, or onboarding need, chances are you’ve encountered the calm, helpful voice of Sonja Booze—our go-to HR Generalist and orientation guru.
But what happens when the tables are turned and we ask her a question? We caught up with Sonja recently and asked the very important investigative question: What’s in your bag?
Let’s just say… she did not disappoint.
First out? A jar of pumpkin pecan waffle–scented hand sanitizer. Yes, you read that right. “It smells good enough to eat,” Sonja laughed. (We believe her—but don’t try this at home.)
But that was just the beginning.
Over the next few minutes, Sonja pulled out:
- Three (yes, THREE) different bottles of hand sanitizer
- A debit card (not exactly tucked away, but “I know exactly where to go to get it,” she assured us)
- Two sets of keys—one for her car, one for work, and another “for reasons unknown”
- A giant phone charger (because you never know where you’ll be!)
- Brochure from her church’s upcoming national convocation
- A toothbrush (HR is always prepared)
- Lotion (plural)
- Lipstick (also plural)
- A wristwatch (in addition to the one she was wearing) – because HR is always on time!
- A single-serving iced tea drink mix
- Nail polish (in case of emergency chips)
- A comb, aspirin, receipts, gum, and… her trusty wallet (which, Sonja admits, her daughter says she needs to replace)
“I didn’t realize how many hand sanitizers I had,” Sonja said, laughing at the growing pile. “Maybe I’ll keep one or two at the office.”
The takeaway? Sonja is just as prepared in her personal life as she is in the workplace—ready to tackle HR inquiries and dry hands at a moment’s notice. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
